About Me
Hello, I’m Dr. Tomislav Cerovecki, an orthopaedic surgeon with a special focus on sports injuries, musculoskeletal trauma, joint preservation, and advanced orthopaedic care.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of treating everyone from professional athletes competing at the highest international level to everyday patients who simply want to move better, feel stronger, and return to the life they enjoy. My goal has always remained the same: to provide careful, honest, and evidence-based treatment with a personal and individualized approach.
I was trained in Europe and built my surgical and clinical foundation through years of work in Croatia, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, finishing among the top students of my class, before completing specialization in orthopaedic surgery and subspecialization in musculoskeletal trauma. I also continue my academic development through a PhD in Biomedicine and Health Sciences.
Before moving to Dubai, I worked for many years at the University Hospital Center Sisters of Mercy in Zagreb, including within the Department of Sports Traumatology, where I gained extensive experience managing complex orthopaedic and sports-related injuries, trauma procedures, and high-demand rehabilitation cases.
Today, I serve as the Head of the Sports Orthopaedic Department at AL TADAWI Specialty Hospital in Dubai, where I focus on the comprehensive care of athletes and active individuals, combining modern surgical techniques with evidence-based rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies.
Alongside my hospital work, I have been fortunate to spend a significant part of my career involved in professional sport. I served for seven years as the Medical Director and Head Doctor of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Football Club and was previously part of the medical teams of GNK Dinamo Zagreb and KK Cedevita Zagreb, where I worked for over a decade in elite basketball.
I have also participated in the medical support of Croatian national football and basketball teams during international competitions, including European Championships, World Cups, Olympic-level events, and other high-performance tournaments. These experiences allowed me to work closely with elite athletes, coaches, physiotherapists, and performance teams, further strengthening my understanding of injury prevention, recovery optimization, safe return-to-play decision-making, and the physical demands of top-level sport.
While elite sports medicine has been an important part of my professional journey, my philosophy remains the same for every patient I treat: clear communication, honest guidance, individualized care, and treatment decisions focused on achieving the best long-term outcome.
My clinical interests include knee, shoulder, and ankle injuries, ligament and tendon reconstruction, arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, cartilage preservation procedures, fracture management, biologic and regenerative therapies, ultrasound-guided procedures, and non-surgical musculoskeletal treatment.
I strongly believe that successful orthopaedic care begins with accurate diagnosis, careful examination, and a treatment plan tailored to the individual patient rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Medicine continues to evolve rapidly, and I remain deeply committed to ongoing education, modern surgical techniques, and evidence-based treatment strategies in order to provide the highest standard of care possible.
Whether treating a professional athlete or someone dealing with everyday joint pain, my objective is always to help patients return safely, confidently, and efficiently to the activities and quality of life that matter most to them.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your path toward recovery, performance, and long-term musculoskeletal health.
