PRP & Regenerative Medicine Injections in Dubai
Orthobiologics for joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and sports injuries
If you’re dealing with persistent joint or tendon pain, you may be looking for an option that supports recovery without surgery, or helps you return to activity more confidently.

I’m Dr Tomislav Cerovecki (“Tomislav”), an orthopedic surgeon with a strong sports-injury focus at Tadawi Hospital, Al Garhoud, Dubai. I offer evidence-informed orthobiologics and regenerative injection options for selected conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, ankle/Achilles, elbows, and other joints and soft tissues.
Important:
Not every pain problem benefits from injections. The right result comes from the right diagnosis, correct injection indication, and a structured rehab plan.

Who this page is for?

You may be a good candidate for an orthobiologic consultation if you have:
• Knee pain (early cartilage wear, inflammation, overuse pain)
• Tendon pain (Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy / jumper’s knee, tennis elbow)
• Shoulder pain (selected tendon issues)
• Chronic pain despite physiotherapy and activity modification
• Recurring sports injuries and want a “return-to-sport” plan
• MRI results and need a clear MRI review + treatment decision
• Prefer to explore non-surgical options before considering surgery

What are orthobiologics?

Orthobiologics are treatments used in orthopedics that aim to support tissue healing or improve joint function using biological or regenerative-style preparations. These may help reduce pain and improve function in selected conditions, especially when combined with rehabilitation.
Treatments we offer (and what they are used for)
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injection

PRP is made from a small sample of your blood, processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors, then injected into a targeted area.
Common uses (case-dependent):
• Tendinopathy (e.g., Achilles, patellar tendon, tennis elbow)
• Selected ligament or muscle injury recovery support
• Some joint pain scenarios (depending on diagnosis and stage)
What PRP is NOT: a guaranteed cartilage “regrowth” treatment or a replacement for rehab.
Highly concentrated plasma preparations

In some cases, different plasma concentrations or preparations are used depending on the tissue and goal (e.g., tendon vs joint environment). The choice is individualized after assessment.
Mesotherapy
(pain-focused injection approach)

Mesotherapy refers to superficial micro-injection techniques sometimes used in pain management contexts. If considered, it is used conservatively and only when clinically appropriate, with clear expectations.
Hyaluronic Acid
(HA) joint injections (“gel injection”)

Hyaluronic acid injections aim to improve joint lubrication and reduce symptoms in some patients -often used for early-to-moderate joint wear.
Common patient searches: “knee gel injection”, “joint lubrication injection”.
Where it can help: knee joint symptoms in selected cases; sometimes other joints as appropriate.
Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy involves injecting a solution designed to stimulate a local tissue response. It is sometimes considered for selected ligament/tendon-related pain when appropriate. Suitability depends heavily on diagnosis and examination.
Stem cell–based treatments
(selected cases)

Prolotherapy involves injecting a solution designed to stimulate a local tissue response. It is sometimes considered for selected ligament/tendon-related pain when appropriate. Suitability depends heavily on diagnosis and examination.
• diagnosis and severity
• imaging findings
• prior treatments
• medical suitability and local regulatory considerations
We discuss benefits, limitations, expected outcomes, and alternatives transparently.
What conditions respond best (and when injections are NOT the right choice)
Often considered (depending on your diagnosis)
Usually NOT appropriate as a stand-alone solution

How we decide the right injection
(simple process)

• Clinical assessment: your sport, your pain pattern, function limits
• Imaging review (X-ray / ultrasound / MRI as needed):
You can book an MRI review appointment
• Diagnosis-based decision: injection vs rehab-only vs other interventions
• Plan for recovery: injection is only one part; rehab matters
What to expect after PRP or joint injections
Expectations vary by treatment and condition, but generally:

- You may have short-term soreness
- We give a structured plan for activity modification
- Physiotherapy progression is often essential
- Return-to-sport timing is individualized
You will receive clear instructions tailored to your condition.
